Crafted in Japan using the Bengara dye method (see below), this stunning Ramie (made from nettles) mix skirt features lots of gathering detail at the front, which works perfectly with the matching blouse when worn together. The skirt has a detachable lining, the petit-coat is a thin grey skirt with an elasticated wist and is fastened to the outer skirt with two poppers. The garment has been washed and starched to create the crinkle effect that we all love.
The Bengara is found in soil and is 100% organic and produces no harmful by-products. Without the need for mordant or heat, the dying process is achieved by working the component into the fabric with friction and a little water. This process produces a deep but soft and rich colour that represents the earth and essence of life in Japan.
