Delicate, ultra-fine yarn-dyed linen stole known as “airy linen.”
The fibers are spun with water-soluble vinylon while still in cotton form. After spinning, the vinylon is carefully dissolved using controlled heat and time, resulting in a soft, fluffy texture. Black lines are woven along all edges, and the slight spacing between threads allows the black yarn to subtly show through, giving the piece an airy, open feel. Willow-dye is applied on the garment. Willow-dye = YANAGI SHIBORI (willow tie). A dyeing method used for kimonos and other garments since ancient times. Willow leaves and branches are portrayed in a graceful, flowing pattern. Each piece is hand-dyed by artisans using natural dyes. c/#24 Indigo...First dyed with indigo, then over dyed with red bayberry. c/#50 Gray...First dyed with Bancha (a type of green tea) and myrobalan, then over dyed with sumi ink, resulting in a bold and expressive pattern created using folded willow dyeing.
